Today’s artist is Jide Obi, born in England to a Nigerian barrister of the esteemed Lincoln’s Inn, and a teacher.

In the late 1970s he studied law at Enugu campus of the University of Nigeria, where he became friends with fellow student and musician, Chris Okotie.

In the 1980s he released he his debut album ‘Tonight’ under the Tabansi Records label. Other hits included ‘Kill Me With Love’, and ‘Front Page News’. He made numerous performances on Nigerian television and has performed for many of the country’s dignitaries, including Nigeria’s first President, Nnamdi Azikiwe.

Imagine organic juiced up afro-funk with a touch of ‘Slave’. His music invokes the image of our parents youth – when it was all about looking good and dancing.
